Fresh Produce

I know I'm on a roll with food thoughts lately, but my muse assures me something creative's on the way soon.

Meanwhile, I want to share my great satisfaction with this product -- the FreshSaver. (I've also sold several friends and relatives on these and they are equally impressed.)

If you're tired of having fresh produce go yucky before you get around to eating it, these canisters are a wonder. Greg and I keep fresh salad greens for over a week -- and they are fresher at the end of the week than they were when we bought them. It all has to do with the disc you insert in the lid every 3 months. Greg could explain the chemistry, but suffice it to say, it works. (I use the second canister for celery, radishes, green onions -- which should not be washed before storage.)

Are the chemicals potentially harmful? Doesn't really matter, since the produce was shipped to your favorite grocery under the protection of these same chemicals anyway.

(If I've done this right, clicking on "Fresh Produce" above ought to take you to the place you can order the canisters and discs.)
