Camping

Had chemo on Monday and things went a bit better this round than first -- with a little help from my friends: Pills and Naps.

As the weather promises to be beautiful, Greg tells me we're packing up later today to head "nort" with our tent and canoe. We camp in places few other people would want to camp. No amenities besides an outdoor john. With any luck, we won't have neighbors with a generator or a crappy, tinny CD player or radio. Sometimes my passive aggressive side thinks about taking a CD player myself, putting in a "sounds of nature" CD, and turning the volume to maximum.

Today's photo symbolizes our camping weekends. I'm the one supine with a book inside the tent where there are no mosquitoes or biting flies. Greg's the one talking to me through the screen, saying "Wanna go for a canoe ride? Wanna take a hike? Wanna play Scrabble? Wanna go into town for ice-cream?" He uses ice-cream as a last resort to get me to move. Sometimes it works, but not usually.

So off the grid we go. Have a great weekend, everyone.

Greg took this photo as we watched Mr. Ant laboriously pulling Mrs. Ant (who wasn't feeling well due to some very nasty chemicals she'd gotten into) to safety. Things became harder and harder for Mr. Ant as the terrain changed from smooth wood to a bumpy berber room-sized rug, but he persevered.
