The body is miraculous. Healing in the past 5 days has been amazing. I am already sleeping on my scars, in my usual sleep position. No big deal you say? Try sleeping flat on your back for a week if you're a curled-up-fetal-position sleeper.
Drove to Jake's in Albany-WI for a weekend of hanging out before another round of appointments to see what's next... or at least what's suggested to be next. I'm keeping my options open. Urged to get a second opinion from Mayo, I will be working to get myself set up for a day of tests and consults there as soon as it can be arranged. My motive? It would be great to find an expert who says I don't need, or shouldn't do, chemo!!
While I don't have access to exactly WHO reads my blog, I do have access to how many hits, whether you use PC or Apple, which browser you use, and what city houses your Internet "hub" (for lack of a more knowledgeable term for the vicinity in which you live). Because there is considerable activity peeking at my blog on a daily basis, I thought I should update today so that no one needs to think I am suffering. Wounds healed. No pain. Drain tube removed, always a big relief, with only a pencil-sized hole left behind. Skin still tight, but either I'm getting used to it or it is settling down some.
And a WARNING to anyone who ever uses a Scopolamine patch for nausea related to surgical anesthetics. When it's time to remove it, don't touch it directly to your skin and THROW IT AWAY. DO NOT stick it to the back of your Kindle reader as a memento. Long story short, I have managed to dilate one of my pupils by touching the patch and then touching my eye. Dilation persists for days, and freaks me out. I thank my surgeon for figuring out what happened and assuring me I wasn't having a stroke earlier this week.
Thanks for your continued caring. I treasure each and every comment left here or e-mail written. I only write when I'm feeling strong and emotionally fit for all of this. There are, however, many other times as some of you have recently discovered. Thanks for being there, my fans.
