With or without Mayo
I have made application to Mayo Clinic to see if I shall have my cancer treatment "with or without" Mayo. Apparently one's case must be of ample interest to Mayo in order to be considered for consultation. If I do make the grade and make it to an actual interview, it is likely this will be about 3-4 weeks away. This means I would be delaying start of chemo and would need my local oncologist's "opinion" on that. What to do, What to do...

I guess it would matter if there is a cost for a consultation with Mayo. A second opinion is always good but isn't there someone around the area that you can go to? Also, waiting 3-4 weeks isn't all that bad if they got all of the tumor out and if your oncologists thinks it's ok.

You are amply interesting so I hope they agree to work with you and learn more about curing cancer. To the best outcome!

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are entertaining this avenue for reasons good to you and will see just where those avenues lead you to soon...
Having physicians you can trust in, their opinions, is absolutely important, however, having trust in yourself is too.
We rarely have all the information we desire when we make decisions. Why does it feel so much more so this way when we have such difficult decisions to make?

Put it in God's hands. He'll tell you what to do & you must listen. My best to you during this difficult time.

Mary - it is YOUR body and your RIGHT to access as many experts as you want to. Go with your instincts. There are no 'right' or 'wrong' approaches, only satisfying your need for 'more information and options'. I applaud your decision. Jennifer
